Nexus introduce the UN 5-130

Nexus Packaging have unveiled what they consider to be their most significant container to date, the UN 5-130, the world’s first UN approved, 5 litre, 130 gramme, free standing, plastic container.

“This is a fantastic breakthrough for us,” explains Director, Mark Ferguson. “In conjunction with RPC we have produced a 130 gramme, 5 litre container that is UN Group 2 approved for free standing use up to a specific gravity of 1.4. We are now able to offer our customers an extremely competitively priced UN container that will simplify the requirements of their outer box packaging and save them money.”

“The UN 5-130 is produced using a very specific grade of polymer that has excellent stiffness characteristics combined with high impact and chemical resistance. In addition, we manufacture this container on machinery that gives us the optimum in material distribution thus enabling us to satisfy the rigorous UN performance requirements.”

Mark concludes, “There is much confusion and fear within the chemical packaging industry over legislative regulations and the UN 5-130 ensures that, at a stroke, most UN requirements can be met using a standard design of 5 litre container and cap whilst giving our customers much more freedom in the choice and specification of the boxes they can use. This is a superb addition to our range of UN approved containers, sized from 1 litre through to 30 litres, and once again, is an example of our commitment to continue to develop the product range and benefit our customers.”
